Dr Kishore Chandra Rout is one of the finest novelists and short story writers in Odia language and literature. He started writing at the age of 12. His first writing was a Short story titled “Kaku Bhikari.” His first published novel, Rashmibala, one of his best love stories, was published in 1998. Dr. Rout completed his post-graduation in both Commerce and Odia from Utkal University.
He is a professional entrepreneur, and his main hobby is writing. He was born in the Jajpur district of Odisha and always follows his father’s legacy as a school teacher and social worker. Dr. Rout believes that his life has been meaningful because he has followed his mother’s ideals and principles. Dr. Rout always believes in hard work and tries to tackle any problem or task on his own.
In 1994, he was the editor of the monthly Odia literary magazine Satirtha, which was published from Bhubaneswar. In 2024, he edited “Dharma O Ishwara Krupa”, a highly popular book. His articles are published in various magazines and newspapers across Odisha. His short story, “The Rose,” was published in an English journal, The Bobble, from Kolkata.

In his novels, each character has its own independence.In his writings, he critically addresses the realities of life, the sufferings of human society, contemporary issues, and family problems. Novel Rashmibala, Dr. Rout beautifully portrays the thoughts, consciousness, and emotions of a young girl. In the novel Premikara Ghara, Dr. Rout illustrates how a tribal girl blindly trusts and falls in love with a forest department officer, reflecting an example of his progressive thought process. Dr. Rout has authored and published six books to date and aims to continue writing for the promotion of language and literature. He travelled extensively inside India and attended book exhibitions, seminars, and conferences.
