Cyclone Dana causes widespread disruptions across Odisha-West Bengal; flights resume

A severe cyclone Dana hit the eastern coast of India causing heavy destruction in Odisha and West Bengal. The storm made landfall on October 24, in the form of a powerful cyclone that led to torrential rain and heavy winds. As well as other extensive damage such as felling trees and demolishing buildings. Several parts of the state roads have been blocked and power cuts reported in many places. Causing trouble with a large number of residents looking for immediate relief.

Both states ordered evacuations of people from low-lying areas and closed schools ahead of the storm. The Odisha and Kolkata airports were closed for a time, suspending flights between 5 p.m. on October 24 till after the storm passed by. This disrupted service to other public transportation services, including buses.

Odisha and Kolkata flights resumed by 9 AM

Relief operations were pressed into full operation by the morning of October 25 as the storm intensity reduced. According to an official, flights at both Odisha and Kolkata resumed by 9 AM allowing. Those stranded people to continue their journeys. Buses were still not running in many places due to destroyed roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.
